There are a number of famous people who have done stupid things in the past. Some of these things were done before the advent of the Internet. We should not forget what they have been up to. Do you remember any of these things?
- Stuart Hall. UPDATED OCTOBER 2008. I was right, there was an episode of shoplifting. Sausages. Varying accounts can be found here and here. I am so pleased that my hazy memory was proven right.
And Richard Bradshaw renminds me that he also went off on one about some quite controversial things during a broadcast: here we are. Well spotted Rich!
- Les Sealey. I remember the legendary late Luton 'keeper throwing a big strop when he was at Man U in a televised match. There was also a bloke down at QPR who used to subject him to relentless verbal abuse whenever he came to visit. What was that all about?
- Jimmy Saville. A rather heated episode of Have I got news for you with Paul Merton. Some material of questionable authenticity can be found at these sites:
Censored;
why it was censored;
is this a full version?;
or this?
- Ted Rogers. 3-2-1 man must have had some scandal. Was it a tax dodge or something?
- Richard Madeley. More shoplifting, in Tescos
- David Pleat. How do you identify a Northern prostitute? She has a Pleat in her skirt. Priceless. Done for kerb-crawling in Huddersfield in the dim and distant past.
