People from around the world will be greeted by a load of Cockneys, cholera ridden urchins, Pearly Kings and Queens and white van driving Essex men foisting jellied eels and rhyming slang on them? No, what you want is to have the Olympics in cosmopolitan South London. Feast your eyes on the glorious plans below, designed to make the Olympics: Cheam 2016 truly memorable. A number of venues, stretching from the true suburbs of outer london, to the wilds of Surrey, bring together the best of what England has to offer. Our logo, features the world renowned Cheam resident Tony Hancock - he would be proud.

Key upgrades for 2016

• At the heart of the Games is the new 90,000 seater West Sutton National Arena, Gander Green Lane. Transport interchange, exhibition centre and media centre attached
• Cheam Leisure Centre (Malden Road, North Cheam) will be extensively rebuilt and will be renamed 'Cheam Baths' again
• A new leisure complex will be created at Priest Hill, near Ewell East station and will contain a number of sports halls and other facilities, capable of hosting many of the indoor events. Additional facilities include gymnasia where athletes are able to train
• North Cheam - administrative centre and site of new National Hockey Stadium
• Olympic Village - athletes will be staying in living quarters Between Banstead and Chipstead. Over 15,000 athletes and a few thousand officials will be housed here
• Official Olympic pub - Sportsman's Arms, Mogador (where else?)
• A new football stadium will be created at Netherne FC (Woodplace Lane), which will be renamed 'Hooleywood' with big white letters planted into the side of the valley which can be seen for miles around. This site will also contain a sports complex as well as hotel facilities and a conference centre
• All participants and spectators will travel between venues by public transport. There will be no car parking available. Notable enhancements include extensions of the Northern and District Underground lines, a massive extension to the Croydon Tramlink to create the 'Cheam Tramlink', and vastly increased bus frequencies, including the return of Routemasters to the 93 bus route.
• It is anticipated that this infrastructure will be used in further events, for example the World Cup, European Championships and African Nations Cup

Artists' impressions of venues for 2016

• East Cheam National Arena
  Currently Sutton United's ground (first two pictures), this will be rebuilt into a 90,000 seat capacity stadium (last picture), and will be the showpiece of the Games.
• Hooleywood
  Netherne FC's football ground will be demolished and rebuilt into a 22,000 all seater stadium, with nearby leisure complex and conference centre. A picture of the present ground is shown first, together with an artist's impression of the new one and a view from the other site of the Chipstead Valley.
• Tooting and Mitcham United FC
  The present facilities at Tooting and Mitcham's ground (first pic) will be much expanded for the Olympics (second pic), and for hosting football matches when Tooting and Mitcham are promoted to the Premier league.
• Worcester Park Football and Cricket Club
  Worcester Park Football and Cricket Club will have a new stand constructed for hosting some Olympic cricket matches. The stand will be of use to both the cricket and football clubs A picture of the present ground is not available yet, but an artist's impression of the new one is.
• Carshalton Athletic FC
  New stands will be constructed around Carshalton Athletic's ground providing spectator facilities for Olympic, International and Championship football. Present and future views are shown.
• Chipstead FC
  New stands on two sides will be constructed at Chipstead FC, raising the capacity from about 100 (first pic) to 8,000.
• Corinthian Casuals FC
  The good work of the Philips brothers (first two pictures) will be added to (third picture) allowing Corinthian Casuals FC to host important football matches, with up to 16,000 spectators.
• Sutton and Epsom Rugby Football Club
  New stands on two sides will be constructed at Sutton and Epsom Rugby Football Club, raising the capacity from about 200 (first pic) to about 8,000 to cater for the numbers of spectators likely to watch Olympic Cricket and, more importantly, Stoolball matches. It will also be important for future rugby matches.
• Priest Hill/Howell Hill sports complex
  Apart from the state of the art indoor facilities including sports halls and Olympic swimming pools, (no pics yet), the Priest Hill/Howell Hill area will have several pitches dedicated to a variety of sports. Stands on one side will means that a variety of different sports may be played on a particular pitch when the need arises. Old Suttonians FC, at Howell Hill, will have their own grandstand.
• Cheam Sports Club
  Cricket and Stoolball will be held at Cheam sports Club, Peaches Close, Cheam (first pic). Some new spectator standing areas will be constructed, to be posted on this site in the near future
• Cheam Park
  The final of the cricket competition will be held at Cheam Park. A new 'Theatre of Cricket' will be built with room for 10,000 spectators.
• Kimpton Rec
  A modest baseball and softball arena will be built at Kimpton Rec, with room for 2,500 fans.
• Beddington Lane Rowing Venue
  A 2km rowing (and canoeing) venue will be constructed at Beddington Lane. The grandstand will accommodate 12,000 spectators.
• North Cheam - National Hockey Centre and Indoor Halls
  A state of the art Astroturf pitch will be at North Cheam's National Hockey Stadium, complete with room for 8,000 spectators. There will also be nearby Indoor Halls for the Table Tennis and Badminton events.
• Sutton Common
  Tennis and Hockey facilities.
• Nonsuch Park
  Archery and Croquet.
• Olympic Village
  Over 15,000 athletes and officials will stay at the Olympic Village at Ruffett Wood, twixt Banstead and Chipstead.
• Mugswell Sports Zone
  Many of the more refined activities will be hosted at venues in the Mugswell Sports Zone. Sports will include Aunt Sally, Equestrian, Modern Pentathlon and Beach Volleyball. A number of venues will be improved or constructed new.
